I agree that labor can reveal love but on the flipside can’t labor be self-centered in the sense that I want people to see what I’m doing for God?

I think having kids gave me a lot of understanding. When we have a child, we love them without them ever having earned it. All other love is usually earned and so we have a hard time trying to wrap our heads around it. I'd argue that an infant doesn't have the ability to love when they are first born. It's something that they develop over time and even then, the love of a parent (in most cases) is stronger than the love a parent has for their child.

I adore God. When I see a sunset, or a baby giggle, or just think about the literal intricacies of an atom. But not just that. I feel His presence in moments when I need him, and in moments when I’m just waiting there in the quiet. He is my friend, the one I tell everything too. I am sad for those who don’t know Him yet. Like your living life without that personal relationship with Him, without getting to know Him. Also cart before horse, is so true. I grew up getting this backwards. Me being good was going to show my love to God. But being in love with God with a personal relationship with Him, the good comes more naturally. Like you aren’t like awww I wish I could do that, but I can’t because I’m a Christian. Your like I don’t even want too! Also, not perfect just in the process of being refined.

Is it okay to enjoy other things of the world and still love God? Like reading, playing board games, hanging out with friends, etc.? I feel guilty for not doing “Godly things “ 24/7 like reading Bible, praying etc.

yes, I thought God loves us as himself a few months ago but I wasn't for certain if I was right in thinking about. "be ye holy as I am holy". God keeps the 10 commandments, God bears the fruits of the Spirit/his spirit. I love this video and thank you for giving me a new perspective on the fruits of the spirit and the fruits of the flesh.

I agree with you! However I’d like to add in a layer below for your consideration. If the holy spirit is the source of any man’s desire to pursue God, how does that start? I don’t think any man wakes up with affections for God randomly. I won’t put God in a box but overnight conversions aren’t really on brand. I think the Holy Spirit takes a few bricks down of that wall. The man thinks he ought to love God but just doesn’t. The “ought to” is the Holy Spirit working. So how does he begin the journey? Well he would need to first obey God willingly without any affections for him yet. Aka, go to church when invited. Open the Bible. “Try” to worship or fumble through prayer. I don’t think any man does any of these first steps with actual affections for God. They are likely seen as burdens… yet his actions are loving God. And that love is letting the Holy Spirit remove more bricks from the wall. So maybe his first church service he just gets a vibe of how it works. The second he is listening to the message. The third he meets a few believers at the church… each time more bricks fall away until he is converted and his once “forced” love is now fully affectionate. Hopefully that makes sense. Point is, you’re right, but I also think since God is Love, by definition, Love is more complex than we can ever imagine. Love you brother. I’ve learned a lot from you. God is definitely moving through you on this app!

This made me reconsider how I teach my son(6) about love, but brought me to the question can we choose to love God? How can we see be patient, kind, etc. with God if we dont understand His love first?

Amen! Well said, it is when we are able to understand the way He loved us, that we are able to love Him the same way. Christ is the fruit we bare, it is His love shown throw us. The value assigned to us when we felt we had none, redeeming us, when we felt it impossible for us to be redeemed. Thank you Lord🙏❤️
