Here’s my recreation: Barley Cake – 1 cup barley flour, 2 tbsp olive oil, ½ tsp salt, ¼–⅓ cup water Vegetable Soup – 1 onion, 2 cloves garlic, 2 cups kale, 1 tbsp olive oil, 3 cups water/broth, pinch of salt Feta & Olives – 4 oz feta cheese, 1 tbsp olive oil, ½ cup olives Fresh Grapes & Herbs – 1 cup grapes, handful of parsley Plato warned that when a city adds luxury and excess, it becomes “feverish,” and its hunger eventually leads to conquest, greed, and collapse.
