we just folded and sewed the snap parts up, then hemmed along the bottom to make t-shirts. then we seam-ripped them to turn them back into onsies for the next kiddo.

You can also turn them into dresses if you add fabric to the bottom to make a skirt, I had a little girl in one of my preschool classes who’s Grandma did that for her and she got longer use out of the shirts

And since you can sew, you can harvest the snaps and use them for other things! I’ve added them to the bottom center of dresses before so they can snap into shorts, but they’re great for everything

the bottom edge will roll up if you leave it raw. if you don't have a sewing machine, there's "iron on hem tape" in most supermarket sewing/craft sections

And the leftover fabric can be used as cloths for dirty work like car stuff or when you clean a trashcan or something. Or as handkerchiefs. You can use it for cleaning around the kitchen too. So you save on clothes and get useable cloth as well

tbh as a daycare worker, i have to admit, it doesnt matter if the child fits or not, we dont care for snapping the snaps… especially if the kid is over like 8months idk why
