I mean businesses only wants to hire part time so they can have more hands on deck, but not give us enough hours to be able to live off one job alone

btw these company’s and business can afford it. they just don’t want to go down in profit. cuz they’re selfish and their ceos and higher ups want to hoard their wealth. they don’t care that other people are suffering.

As someone who works in a hotel. They cut our labour costs to fill in their targets to get that bonus- which they don’t share 🤦🏻♀️

there are no hours to go round, 1 shift a week isn’t uncommon but totally unsustainable for everyone involved

Companies are reporting higher profits than ever before, yet staff are still forced to work skeleton shifts. I will frequently do 13/14K days for the company I work for, and walk away with a little over £100. It feels like daylight robbery

The problem is they go for younger people on a part time wage cause they’re cheap and basic. And they have a massive turn over because they’re cheap can’t keep people, especially young people who have other commitments like studying.

Honestly it's not even that it's how bad the staff have gotten, We need to employee 3 workers to do the same job as one proper worker, Problem is in 6 year's my place has only had 4 decent workers they are so few and far between and it's shocking how bad people are, I'm not referring to hitting the ground running either I mean even after months of training they just don't care enough to actually bother working properly.

The bar I work at is severely understaffed. It's hell every shift. They claim they can't afford the staff. But as a supervisor I can see the profits the business makes. They are making record profit. The manager gets bonuses all year round and works once a week. While the rest of us break our backs. I see it in almost every bar and pub I've been in. It's a shame. Especially because I love my job.

companies that have workers face the public, such as a bar or even a news reporter go through a 'good look' selection, this is discrimination, but how can you prove it? "your honour, I wasn't picked for a job because I'm a minger".. nah that doean't happen

for all the youngas looking for jobs, ask your parents to ask their friends. cause they’re friends with your parents they will more likely be understanding of your schedule especially if you’re in education and working part time. they’ll also be more keen on employing you as they can already put more trust into you as someone they know. worked for me and i landed a well paying job that works with my schedule 😁
