@resonanceshift: Having people in your corner that will call you out like that is a rare thing. It's a beautiful thing. You need to face that shadow and integrate it forward so that you can actually rewrite the story in the future or else you're gonna keep repeating it. They don't have a circle around them of people that will challenge them forward and call them out on their bullshit. The people in your circle are either a growth engine or an anchor. Having friends who will call you on your old stories is a rare and beautiful thing. It's uncomfortable, but it's where freedom is found.
