I Disagree. Of the neurotic people I’ve met, they were usually the least intelligent people in the room. They consistently needed validation for illogical assumptions and always argue with people without thinking things through.

As a high masking AuDHD, I learned not to share the full risk patterns. Also I learned early that emotions modeled by a leader in crisis can make or break a group. So no matter what happens, everything is fine. Curating your group’s emotional state is paramount, then you can work on the rational state. People feel first, and neurotypicals need stability to function well.

Neurotic people thrive in the military combat environments, situational awareness, risk assessments, preparation etc…they automatically become the leaders but in a typical non war environment suffer and are bullied.

Neuroticism is actually useful for leadership. Not being able to see risk is actually bad for Leadership. People fake positivity to climb hierarchy because many people become anxious when they are aware of reality. Once in a position of independent power, you can afford to disappoint people.

I think it is good trait If you are not too neurotic to function but IT IS better to keep these insights to yourself usually because people prefer to hear only good news or they seek support and confirmation to their beliefs

When u realize that negative emotions caused by being told what to do by incompetent ppl r higher than negative emotions from managing and leading - it becomes so much easier to take that decision hahhaha

Its good pattern recognition and the fact that we have to live in a level of delusion in everything we do to actually be able to function. I had to quite literally rewire my brain to accept risk and adapt itself to enjoying challenges rather than seeing it as a threat that cant be conquered. Once you learn to transmute negativity into decisive action, then you can easily motivate others by the way you approach hardship

That really clicks for me. People don’t really like me… never have. I’m not mean per se, but I’m realistic… which likely comes off as negative. I’m probably more neurotic than I care to admit; Im not giving anyone the warm and fuzzies. Super competent. 152 IQ… Unemployed.

Is this a culturally American thing? A western thing? I'd be curious whether, for example, this negative correlation between neuroticism and leadership ability is the same in eastern cultures? I bet not!
