I did this and ended up as a community educator and historian five years later. Took a hobby and turned it into a possible future phd 😳😳. I love it

back in February I bought myself "the big fat middle school math book" so I can reteach myself the math that I failed so many times as I got to high school and college and that no one could explain or break it down. almost 40, sometimes it still is hard, and I get frustrated bc its not sinking in or Im making the same mistakes, but I can genuinely tell myself everyday that I am actively doing something to work on what I feel needs to be rectified. will I do anything with it, no. bc the point of it, and this personal curriculum activity, is improving upon or study up on subjects that you feel need it or want to actively work on. I agree with op, this is a wonderful activity and use of people's time vs our usual doom scrolling

I live in Maine so did a study on Maine for the end of August. I have gone on little field trips around Maine, cooked from a Main cookbook and read some fiction novels that take place in Maine.
