@store.curiosity: Day 108 - The Honduran white bat (Ectophylla alba) is a tiny, striking species found in Central America. Measuring only 3.7–4.7 cm or 1.5-2 in long, it is known for its fluffy, snow-white fur and bright yellow ears and nose. These bats roost under large Heliconia leaves, which they modify by cutting the leaf ribs to create protective “tents.” They live in small colonies and feed primarily on figs. Their unusual coloration may help them blend with filtered sunlight through leaves, providing camouflage. Despite their delicate appearance, they are resilient, playing an essential role in seed dispersal. Sadly, habitat loss threatens their survival in the wild. #honduranwhitebat #wildanimals
