Justified? 100%, is it sad? 100%, the dog shouldn’t have ever been off leash, the owner should have held onto her dog, the officers had great patience but you can only get bit so many times before you don’t have a choice

if you’re at this point, you as the owner need to be tackling your dog. Clearly your leash isn’t enough. You need to be literally on top of your dog. And then take a good hard look at your dog and recognize it’s a danger to society.

That Officer gave a years worth of warnings. More than enough time to get a dog under control. Nothing done wrong on the side of the Officer.

…and I sort get a sense that the owner “let” the dog lose on purpose, knowing that the dog would do exactly what the dog did? Kind of using the dog as a weapon to attack the police???

100% Justified…. SLC has a shitty Chief, and the officers deserve better there.

I was a k9 handler and own a dog training business. I love dogs more than most. That owner should have got the punishment not the dog. Unfortunately the dog was mistreated and the poor officer had to defend himself. Has anyone ashamed him if he is ok? He didn’t want to do it ya know!

The only person at fault here is the owner of the dog. The officer did more than he needed to at that point. “The dogs not a vicious dog” dog proceeds to be vicious and attack someone.

If this person owned 100 acres, lived in the center of it and had a dog with violent tendencies, there wouldn’t be a problem. In a city, we need to protect people. Laws for the masses keep us safe. If a human or a dog or a birdor robot is threatening lives, they must be met with force. It’s a choice we make.

Personally officers have others means to gain a dog into compliance example pepper spray or their tasers. Do I disagree with the decision to shoot the dog yes did a use of force need to be done yes is the owner responsible for having an aggressive dog off leash 111100000000%. At the end of the day it's sad the dog had to lose its life but the officers did what they had to do
