@bullies2therescue: Hi! I’m Elphie 🐾 I came into rescue at the end of last year after being surrendered to Bullies 2 the Rescue when my owner moved out of the country. I’m still just a baby at 2 years old! When I was a little bulldog pup, I was born with a condition called Swimmer Puppy Syndrome. Swimmer Puppy Syndrome, also known as flat-puppy syndrome, is a developmental condition in dogs and cats that affects the ability to walk and stand. Puppies are born with splayed legs, lying flat on their chests and stomachs, making it impossible for them to bear weight. The main symptom is a “swimming”-like rowing motion when they try to move. This condition is often corrected in young puppies, but unfortunately, I didn’t get the therapy I needed. BUT… that doesn’t stop me! I am upright and move around very easily. I use wheels outdoors (and I’m super fast!), but indoors I get around just fine using my strong front legs, while my back legs move a little differently. I’m healthy, recently spayed, and even had my cherry eye fixed. I just get around in my own special way. I’m not incontinent—I just wear fancy pants to keep me clean in case of a rare accident inside and to protect my bottom when I’m zooming around indoors. I LOVE LIFE! I’m such a happy girl, full of joy—and yes, I dance! 💃🐶 I’m so happy you’re here, and I’m looking for my forever family.
