@janylsmithesq: Once your child turns 18, your legal rights as a parent change. As both an estate planning attorney and a mom, these are the documents I’ll making sure Summer and Cooper have before heading off to college. Btw, how are my empty-nesters holding up?! 😭🥳 #intentionalparenting #parentingyoungadults #collegeprep #lawyermom #collegestudent #backtoschool
I have a 17 year old he’s a senior also epileptic and i considered this but wasn’t sure where to begin because i have no time honestly.

I’m there now! My daughter is almost 18 and we are trying to figure out the best way and easiest way for her to navigate in case of our demise. Also…with my first daughter I learned the hard way when she went to college you cannot call the dean to speak to him/her on behalf of your child!!! I had no idea 😭

We did this because my 2nd baby was born with heart issues, and and we wanted to be his POA, and we needed to make decisions for his medical care.

Do these things have to be notarized? Do you have to pay to file them?

I’m a new empty nester. My daughter is gone to college. We’re local to each other but she lives on campus. I’m going to look into this. I’d have more peace of mind knowing she’s protected.
