This is a rough road map if you haven't found it already. Just pick a legion you're interested in and read on!

please read "infinite and the divine." it's about two gay old men pranking each other and all the antics those pranks stir up.

the funniest part about the astartes being in love with their primarchs is its intentional. the emporer literally gave them a "primarch aura" so mortals and astartes would obey them no matter what. some primarchs auras are stronger than others with horus and sanguinius having the most powerful and alpharius and omegon having the weakest ones
so youll go from "i love my dad so much hes so amazing look how beautiful and charismatic he is" in a lunar wolves or blood angels book to "i fucking hate my dad" in a night lords book

Body horror and men flirting with each other were my biggest takeaways, loved it though

🤨 Um, that’s what ya take from that bond? Ya do realize that the relationship between Primarchs and Astates is “parent and child” right?! This ain’t game of thrones with the insest trope.

I've always loved how the Space Marines are the epitome of "masculinity," but are completely asexual. Many of them are even actively disgusted by displays of sexuality. Instead they feel deep platonic love, and talk about it a LOT.

Oh and the sweat. Dan Abnett seems to abandon the focus on all the glistening and sweating the marines do after that 😂

Most of the legions deeply love their primarchs and are connected to them on such a level that if they were to die, it would cause a psychic backlash that would scar them forever.

I'm new to Warhammer and 7 books into the Horus heresy. I cannot get over a story with no "good guys" 😂. The ones you think are morally sound always end up not being so or dying quickly, in some cases twice 😅

I’m halfway through the heresy, and I can say that it only continues throughout the entire series. He will be in heaven.

Then you have the Siege of Terra. I just started Saturnine and the opening almost kinda made me cry. It’s so good already
