I've noticed that very few people use "who" correctly, instead, they use "that" for both people & objects. I hear this error in conversation, on T.V. news casts/shows, & in movies.

We need a word that refers to a singular person regardless of gender. Nobody wants to call a person “it” so “they/them” is the only word we have to refer to one person whose gender is either unknown or who prefers not to identify by gender.

I know it's not pronouns but why on earth do we say "in hospital" instead of "in the hospital"? I still add the "the" just because saying "in hospital" makes me uncomfy in a weird way.
