@mseliaschicgeek: 99% of administrators get per session pay when they stay after contract hours. These events aren’t “volunteer” time like many of us think—they’re compensated. Think about all the events that fall into this category: 🎶 Winter Concert 🌸 Spring Concert 🎭 Talent Show 🏫 Open House 👩👩👦 Parent-Teacher Conferences 🎓 Graduation / Moving Up Ceremonies 📚 Curriculum Night 🏀 School Dances & Sports Events 🎤 Student Performances & Plays And the list goes on… Teachers, parents, community—you should know the facts. I shared the official government website that lists per session pay rates. Check the link in my bio. Let’s be clear: administrators aren’t staying late out of pure goodwill—they’re being paid for it. #persession #nycdoeteacher #citydata #StopExploitingTeachers
That’s not necessarily true. Admin does not get paid for everything extra that they stay for. I’m a principal and myself and my APs have worked extra for the kids and the school plenty of times and have not gotten paid.

UFT needs to take care of the teachers instead of politics

I never received payment as a principal for after school activities (concerts, meetings, shows, etc). I didn’t mind as I enjoyed watching my kids perform. I would buy my staff dinner on these days (out of pocket).

I have never put in for per session as a principal. Budgets are tight and I reserve the money I have in the budget to make sure my teachers get paid for all of their extra activities outside of contract hours. I’m sure I’m not the only principal who does this. Teachers deserve compensation for all their hard work.

I am sorry but this is inaccurate. I’m a principal and my AP and do not get paid for after school activities. Any PD that is asked of them happens during work hours and we always ensure that our teachers are paid for anything after.

Getting paid for afterschool activities is what should be pushed for when we get our next new contract!

Most teachers I know are getting paid for earlier than required sessions like this. Your school is just cheap.
