Cold? Freezing? Its finally starting to cool down end of summer.. but this is not freezing, not for MN😂😂 As a transplant, I understand where you’re coming from though.. the adjustment, especially your first year.. it’s tough, your first winter in MN is tough, tons to do so many winter activities. I’m from Puerto Rico, ended up in this state from my Caribbean island😂😂💚 it takes time, but this state really is built for it💚

The winter coat you’re gonna need will basically look like a sleeping bag. I got one and moved to California and gave mine to my sister and it lasted her through college. Check out LL Bean’s ultra warm coat.

As a west coast girl, I moved to Chicago for work. After one full winter I was gone. Moved back. The cold was colder than any cold I’d ever known, and the lake effect, that wind. Too much.

Living in the Midwest plains states you will realize fast the weather app is your closest friend and you will want to check it basically 6 times a day minimum.

Winter musts: good boots (I like sorels), good socks, and thermal underwear. Something else to consider, fleece lined khakis and jeans. Mittens are better at keeping you warm than gloves. This right now is just our false fall. It’ll get balls hot again soon

I live a few hours north of the cities and yesterday I finally admitted to myself that shorts weather was over (granted, we might get another hot-spot in a few weeks). If this is very cold for you (understandable) I’m BEGGING YOU to invest in some thick: sweaters, socks, flannels, and at least one pair of flannel-lined jeans. If you can’t find flannel-lined, make sure you have a sturdy pair of jeans you can fit some insulating leggings under. There’s usually a mild blizzard around Halloween, so start getting that stuff ASAP.
