The Halloween the Pumpkins Talked Back! Halloween is getting closer and down at the bottom of the wiggly hill,
Everything seems spooky scary in Problemville.
Pumpkins were sitting all over the square,
On porches and sidewalks and EVERYWHERE! Berbumble was out for his evening walk,
When all of a sudden, OUT OF THE BLUE—
A PUMPKIN started to TALK!
And Berbumble just stood there—not knowing what to do! It was the DANG-DANG-ER-IST thing ever,
A talking pumpkin? NEVER SAY NEVER!
Then another one talked, and another one too,
Everyone was running everywhere—in one big KRACKER-DOODLE-DOO! Then the Mayor spoke up clear as a BELL!
“LISTEN TO ME! I know how to fix this and make everything well!”
But before he could finish... another pumpkin SHOUTED OUT!
And someone said, “WHAT’S HE TALKIN’ BOUT?” “Uhmmm,” said the Mayor, at a loss for a word,
“I don’t know, but this is totally ABSURD!”
Were the pumpkins REALLY talking? No one quite knew,
Then a voice from the darkness said, “I’M TALKING TO YOU...” 
Everyone turned—but there was NOTHING in sight,
Now THAT gave everyone in Problemville a total Halloween FRIGHT!
Mr. Kalm finally said, “HOLD ON TO YOUR HATS AND BE READY TO SKIR-DABBLE...
