Yo boss, can I take six to twelve months off for a career break?

Financially free is my goal. Not retirement. My goal is to fully own outright a fun small business to run before 45.

also, in the US, people forget the cost of medical insurance which you need to buy privately until you hit medicare age. this can be up to $1k+ per month and needs to be budgeted for!

Thanks Ryan. I thjnk about sacrificing present for the future a lot too - I could work more now so my investment can alllw me to retire fully sooner. I don’t do it because the future isn’t guaranteed

I got laid off at 59 in May. Wasn’t the plan, but I got a taste of early retirement and realized I’m not ready. Job market is brutal when your my age, but luckily I got a job offer in a different division at my former company. I do not recommend taking a career break because the chances of finding another job are slim to none. I am one of the lucky ones.

25 times your early expenses? 🤔 I have that. There’s no way I’m retiring early with my current savings. I’m aiming at least at twice that.

I’m looking to retire at 55/56 as a teacher. I don’t plan on changing that. However I also travel about 15 weeks a year now. “Die with Zero” is a great book

Great video!! I’ve always thought barista fire will be the best for me. There are jobs that I’ve had that I really enjoy that aren’t my main earners that I think would satisfy me in semi retirement

6–to 12. Be like purposely get fired from your job and don’t look for work for 12 months. At least you get unemployment.

Love the video Ryan!! I especially resonate with number 2 because it’s important to find a balance and there may have to be big sacrifices made to be able to FIRE early

You lost me. I don’t see any downsides. Once you own your time, anything is possible. My job got in the way of my life 🥰
