So yeah Obagi is a “medical grade” skincare line which has been extremely effective in treating my melasma after years of trying drug store and Korean products. There is absolutely a difference. If you have unproblematic skin then use the drug store products.

i’d consider prescription grade tretinoin, clindamycin, etc - as medical grade. however what we use as professional estheticians are strictly, professional grade lines. Not all of us think this way!!

So why do y’all become aestheticians if you guys don’t believe there’s a difference between medical grade or professional grade versus drugstore and department store that’s the case. But there is no separation between the two. 🤔

“They have to be sold by licensed professionals!” meanwhile you can get literally any “medical grade” brand from dermstore lmao

The only time you can say “medical grade” is when your dermatologist or GP prescribes it to you, and you have to pick it up from a pharmacist.

Not all estheticians believe this. Please don’t lump us together. Not saying you are just a generalized comment.

In layman’s terms, what she means is buy from me and not Sephora💀 my aesthetician does not do this, though she’s very ethical and not only about money

👏🏼 👏🏼 and wait till they find out that many so-called “medical grade” brands are owned by the same conglomerates that own drugstore brands 👀

I don’t understand why this is argued when professionals in the field keep educating on why it doesn’t work like that 😭

this is why I hate calling myself an esthetician, I call myself a licensed skin coach. for years alestheticians have always tried to bully me with the medical grade nonsense, but people forget aestheticians are not cosmetic chemist, aestheticians are not dietitians, aestheticians are not dermatologists!!!!

You recommended kiehls vitamin c in one of your other videos based on ingredients but vitamin c is unstable and, for example, skinbetter’s vitamin c has reduced oxidation, and long-term potency due to its airless pump so you probably are getting more higher quality, longer term use out of it.

I’ve been an esthetician for 12 years and worked in cosmetic derm and med spas, before going out on my own. I preach this all the time. Medical grade skincare is a marketing term. Know your ingredients. Know your formulations. Don’t fall for scams. 💯

Then why do you have to have a medical director to be able to have an account with many of these medical grade skincare brands?

Honestly, this is so over talked about on this app. Everyone cares what everyone else is doing instead of putting energy into their clients. Use and recommend what works the best for your business and your clients results. Period.
