as a single woman, no kids, lost both parents before I was 30, have an 11+ year-old dog who sees a chiropractor regularly, because he's had a slippe disc in his back (couldn't walk for a time), rescued a cat from a farm, paid off braces and jaw surgery, paid my college debt, paid off first new car, and have been at the same job for 10 years (this month). I don't get a party or gifts for any of it, and don't expect it, but agreed, celebrations should happen for the uncommon milestones too.
