win-win situation for everyone except local businesses....we get to stretch our S$ when we spend in JB, and JB gets our business .... but sorry, we are not obliged to spend on local businesses if things get more and more expensive.

JB is the entry point for most of us but that doesn't mean we are visiting them. It is a bypass to explore beyond JB either by car, tour bus, ect...

People who go in drive a car. Considering the price of a car in Singapore, they're not in the low -income-earner bracket. They're simply trying to save more money, not because they can't afford to spend in Singapore.

Hear of retirees wanting to rent out their HDB here and go rent and spend their money there. There are people who are going to JB to service their car, lasik, dental, eat and spend!

I havent seen JB since 2020. Nothing there attracts me, not worth the hours in traffic. I can spend in SG comfortably .. no reason to go to JB to breathe. My family breathes fine in SG

Blame our government for the obsession over a strong Singapore dollar to curb inflation is part of the story, but on the flip side of the coin, it keeps our goods affordable. The only crooks and cronies to keep Rental affordable his non-other than our residents, whether local or foreign who owns this shophouses.

JB offers more than value. Everytime u enter into JB after the immigrations, everything slows down. Motorist are generally driving slower. The vastness of space are felt. Even when some area are a bit run down, it offers an authenticity and identity that not everything need to be polished and “cold”. Of cos with our stronger $$$, everything become more affordable. But most importantly, cuisine there are more flavorful, robust and genuine compared to SG repetative stalls and mediocre stand. Just a drive thru the causeway, we are offered what SG cannot offer. PERIOD!

Only 10% cheaper is not that cheap actually. In fact some things are same price as sg after direct conversion.
