in Spanish class one Monday we were "making cards for a classmate who's father passed away over the weekend" yet no one understood why I refused. I finally just said "my dad died on Friday night, where's my fucking condolences" and she had a look of deer in the headlights and I did not participate.

I had a teacher almost deny an extension on an assignment. I had lost my grandma a month after losing my grandpa. I was a mess and needed more time. He asked me, in front my class, how close I was with her. I nearly broke down.

I had a boss give me a hard time for calling out at the last minute without many details. I snapped and screamed at her that I was at a crime scene waiting to speak with the detective after my dad was found unalived….she’s never given another person who worked for her a hard time about calling out since. I remember later she told me once i hung up on her, she called her husband crying and he was like “well what did we learn?” 😅😅

not the same but my manager at work tried to take my phone from me while my best friend was actively dying during labor and her dad was calling me to let me know what was happening. I left and never went back

This teacher was absolutely grilling me because I got the right answer but solved the equation wrong (i am terrible at math) and I burst into tears explaining I was exhausted and my dad just got diagnosed with cancer. ((He’s ok now guys 🩷))

they never seem to consider your personal situation. when they see grades slipping, they assume you're lazy. when you have to visit the nurse or call home sick, they assume you're making excuses. I have a lot of bones to pick with my past teachers.

in second grade my grandma died and the teacher put on the bored for an assignment we had to fix the sentence and it said “Zachs grandma had Died and he has to go to north dakota for her funeral “ and I remember I started balling my eyes out. She quit the following year

Somehow the HS front office never alerted my teachers that my dad died. Came back 3 days later, got grilled by a teacher in 4th period and ended up just dropping the news in front of everyone. Really awkward day for everyone involved!

when i got into a car accident on the weekend and my teacher said it "wasnt a real excuse because nothing happened to me". i was the only one who didn't go to the hospital and i was at school while my grandma was in surgery waiting to see if she was going to live :/
