CAPCUT NOW OWNS THE RIGHTS/USAGE TO YOUR CONTENT !!!! 🚨🚨🚨 CapCut just updated their Terms of Service, and it’s honestly so bad. According to the new TOS, they now claim the right to: - Use your content however they want - Use your face, voice and likeness - Profit from it without your permission FOREVER - Sell it to third parties - If they get sued because of something in your video, they can make YOU pay their legal fees. Yes, you read that right. *edited to add* CapCuts broad license claims usage and resell rights, they can monetize, sublicense and sell your content to third parties on a perpetual/persistent basis, meaning if you delete the content or delete the app but you’ve uploaded it via their server they get to keep using it - in my eyes that’s owning the content. Even though it states the content creator remains the owner and owns the copyright/IP i’d say the broad license says otherwise and is super grey and icky to me! The license comes into play when you use their cloud service (which give creators easy access to their files across mobile and desktop or frees up space on their phone) or if you upload directly to social media. As a content creator, this is beyond concerning. We pour our time, energy, creativity, and our face into these videos and now we’re expected to hand over the rights? no way! This isn’t about one app. It’s about protecting creative work and setting boundaries around how platforms treat creators. If you’re using CapCut, go read the TOS right now, don’t just click “agree.” And if you’re a creator: let’s support each other, and hold these companies accountable because this is not okay!
