@coldwareconomics: In the 1980s, Bulgaria dreamed of becoming the “Silicon Valley of the East.” Thousands of Pravetz computers rolled off the assembly line — but most never even turned on. No software, no manuals, no electricity in schools. A whole tech revolution… that existed only on paper. #Bulgaria #ColdWar #TechHistory #HistoryFacts #FailedTech

West propaganda. Many revolutionary things were done in socialist countries. We were not as backward as the West, which destroyed our economies through takeovers and bankruptcies, is propagandizing today. Computers were being built throughout the communist bloc, including Romania. Which country in Europe still produces computers today?

Not a communist fan but it is not really true they were made on production lines that were either Bulgarian or German and sometimes Japanese, the parts of the computers some of them were Japanese every computer worked and still work today

Not true, I lived in a small town, population 7000 and we had Bulgarian PCs in the 80s. Only at school, not at home. Yes, they were stolen technology, but they worked fine for games at least

I can well imagine being a little kid being seated in front of any computer during the micro computer boom of the late 70s or early 80s. There is no way that a kid like me would refuse a Bulgarian computer. I don't care how bad it was.

so much western propaganda in one vid 💀. Bulgaria had electricity and Concrete electrical poles while the greeks (Western nation at that time, no hate towards you greeks, we chill) still used wooden beams. Bulgaria had plenty of electricity and the computers were functioning almost as intended. I know it's hard for western 🐈 ies to belive that socialist countries actually did pretty good. Yes it wasn't perfect but it wasn't as bad as the propaganda says it was. 1991-92 and all the years after the fall of the socialist regime were actually one of the hardest for the eastern countries. Switching (sometimes with more blood than talks) alliances, political parties and the general view of the people wasn't an easy transition.
