This is the day I perfected your studying and completed your understanding of your favorite two arches ❤️💚 Here’s a hand to celebrate as you study the arteries of the Hand ✋🏼 read below for notes ⤵️ This lesson is the palmar side of the hand and you should send this to your friends right now so they can have this! More soon @rev.med ✅ Overview Radial + Ulnar → Superficial & Deep Palmar Arches Blood to the hand comes from radial and ulnar arteries. These form anastomotic arches on the palmar (and dorsal) side. "Superficial = Ulnar main, Deep = Radial main" ✅ Superficial Palmar Arterial System Superficial Palmar Arch *Mainly from ulnar artery, completed by superficial branch of radial artery *Location: Anterior to long flexor tendons, posterior to palmar aponeurosis *Level: At the distal border of the fully extended thumb Palmar Digital Artery *Supplies medial side of the 5th digit (little finger) Common Palmar Digital Arteries (3) *Branch from the superficial arch → run in the interdigital spaces *Each bifurcates into proper palmar digital arteries Proper Palmar Digital Arteries *Supply adjacent sides of fingers (excluding the thumb) Superficial Palmar Branch of Radial Artery *Contributes to superficial arch, runs superficial to thenar muscles ✅ Deep Palmar Arterial System Radial Artery Pathway *Passes through anatomical snuffbox, curves dorsally around scaphoid & trapezium *Enters palm between heads of 1st dorsal interosseous → then adductor pollicis *Forms deep palmar arch Deep Palmar Arch *Continuation of radial artery, completed by deep branch of ulnar artery *Located deep to long flexor tendons, at the level of the proximal metacarpals Princeps Pollicis Artery *Major blood supply to the thumb, runs along its palmar aspect Radialis Indicis Artery *Supplies lateral (radial) side of the index finger #anatomy #anatomyandphysiology #medico #medschool #usmle #nclex
