Everyone here fighting is stupid, at $1000 a new Mac is almost always better than a new windows laptop. Especially if you have an iPhone/ipad. They are work horses, but if you are an engineer they are bad. If you are getting a laptop for school/work test some out get one that suits your needs - sincerely, a Mac and Windows user

As an engineering student my Desktop is a windows and my Laptop is a MacBook. Why? Because the MacBook is pretty much better on every aspect than a similar priced Windows machine. (Keyboard/Cooling/Track pad/Display/Thunderbolt ports/Sound/Efficiency/heat/finish) Look at the price of a Dell XPS, Zephyrus, or any premium laptop, the Mac becomes very interesting.
