@taxunwrapped: How to pass on your house - 100% tax-free - to anyone. Most people face 33% gift or inheritance tax. On €500k, that’s €160k gone. But Ireland’s Dwelling House Exemption can wipe it completely - even in some cases if you’re living abroad. Conditions? Lived there 3 years before, stay 6 years after, and own no other home. Don’t miss one of the most powerful property reliefs. Book at taxunwrapped.ie #taxtips #taxstrategy #inheritancetax #irishproperty #giftorinheritance #taxplanning #dwellinghouseexemption

We are two sisters and one of us has just moved in with the other. Initially I wanted to put my sisters name on my deeds along with myself but we have been told she would need to buy a share of the house, this would mean we would have to pay conveyancing fees to solicitors on both sides. I just want to make sure we are both protected were one or other of us to die. Any advice

horrible that this happens, people pay taxes their whole life to own a home, then to have it taxed again because you die and want your family to be comfortable. its practically a death tax

1. If the government wanted to make changes to this arrangement, how would they go about it? 2. Are they planning it already? 3. If I gift it to my 3 kids, and one or two of them die, does the last kid maintain the rights? 4. Where can I study this in detail.

The fact the govt takes 33% of a home that is inherited or any part of an inheritance is disgraceful. The wages are so low in ireland The kids are so overqualified for the jobs and get paid pittance compared to other countries. Not to mention the person who paid off the house earned the same low wage and scrimped and saved to pay off. It time all this changed.
