Completly agree. However, the canon established in Picard says that everything post discovery is not in the prime universe. There’s a scene where raffi shames Picard for his wealth. This implies they have money, crime, and classism, which ain’t the Roddenberry future.

If "fans decide what is canon" tng wouldn't have been canon. Trekkies didn't accept that tng was in the same universe as tos at first, it only really solidified after nemoy made a guest appearance and dorn was in undiscovered country. Fans don't know what they want until they have it.

I would say this is both true and untrue. They ultimately do what they want but they do act reactionary when fans complain enough. Hence why SNWs isn't nearly as progressive as Discovery.
