Individual retirement account(IRA)- fidelity or vanguard are the best places to open them IMHO.

IRA and contribute as much as you can. When I was younger I couldn’t contribute the max but every time I received a raise I increased my contribution until I reached the max.

I worked for one of the largest financial institutions in the US. IRA is your best option. I would seek a professional advisor in your area that you can sit down with and review your options. Best of luck.

Depending on who you bank with, speak to your banker. Some of them have financial advisors on staff, or offer retirement funds. I’m in financial services if you’d like to reach out to me for any questions!

I do both through my employer. I don’t remember my exact distribution between the two but I put 15% of my check into it. Always take advantage of the employer match.

Definitely seek out an investment specialist. I know around TN you can find an Edward Jones Investments pretty easily.

Research personal IRA or Retirement investing. That is your best option.

Charles Schwab is who we use for our family trust. My mom is a big fan because they don’t get commissions on trades.

personal opinion not investment advice. open a Roth IRA and put the money into SPY, it will long term out perform most other investment mixes. I personally use M1 Finance but they charge a fee for less than 5k in assets I believe.

I agree with @WVDawnsky. A traditional IRA is your best option for pre-tax contributions. What this means is the tax is deferred until you withdraw money from the account. Another option is a Roth IRA. This is a post tax option meaning that you pay tax on the money on the front end. Austin Peay offers two financial literacy courses. One is free and the other is $200. Hope this helps. DM me if you want more info.

I work for a retirement fund record keeper. definitely go Roth IRA... your money gets taxed when you put it in, not when you pull it out.. better to be taxed on $1 now than when it turns into $100 later. talk to a financial advisor if you don't know what stocks to invest in... younger ppl tend to go higher risk/ higher reward because they will have it in their account longer while older ppl tend to go safer... diversify your portfolio, and ask about growth stock mutual funds!
