I have lived long enough to to learn that we can always learn something new and the youth today are intelligent. So I listen and I learn and I can also give them a bit of my own wisdom as well.. we are put at a disadvantage when we feel we’re superior and have nothing to learn .. remember that.

Maybe it is because i was thrown in the deep end and had held global responsibility for IT infra at 23 and was the young gun who had to not just give advise but redesign ancient systems, but now that i’m in my 30s and is the lead network architect at a billion dollar annual revenue company, i make sure to take feedback and input from those younger as well. Fresh out of uni sometimes means more in tune with the latest ideas. Lots have changed in the decade since i started doing this

Best advice my old coworker gave me was "Just because you do something for a long time, it doesn't mean you've been doing it right". As he always listened to everyone and gave it serious thoughts instead of being arrogant. Absolute wise man. RIP
