@_.alpino: GP 🇧🇹 At 7 570m, Gangkhar Puensum is the tallest unclimbed mountain in the world. Situated on the border with China, it’s the tallest mountain in Bhutan, which has banned mountaineering throughout it’s territory in 2003, following a 6k+ ban in 1994. Because of inadequate mapping, the first team to attempt the summit was unable to find the mountain at all. In 1998, a Japanese expedition secured permission from the Chinese Mountaineering Association to climb the mountain, but permission was withdrawn because of a political issue with Bhutan. #mountains #mountaineering #k2 #everest #fyp
