What disorder is it when the teenager gets in the car and immediately asks to go to Jersey Mike's before saying, "hi"? Asking for a friend.

Maybe worth specifying this is the results of tests done where a parent leaves the child with a stranger. So children may react differently when left with a known care giver / someone they have a good attachment with (such as grandparent, father etc). also it's more complicated than 'this is good and this is bad'. this is a huge oversimplification which is likely to worry parents without teaching them much

This makes me think of all those daycare videos where the child is playing happily then starts sobbing when they see their parent.

My baby smiles, acknowledges me, I MIGHT get a hug, but she pretty much just keeps playing with whatever she was doing. Is that good or bad?

This is all a fundamental misreading of what attachment theory is. Attachment is a style, not a disorder. These are all healthy, functional adaptations to a parent’s own parenting style, and attachment styles can and do change throughout life

my son started as secure..now is avoidant when I come home💔 he's 2 and a half. got some work to do on myself i guess but don't understand why it switched if it's been the same routine and he was secure at first...my dad does project onto me that I'm a bad parent for having to goto work though so maybe my son is feeling that? from him?

What about if my toddler doesn’t wanna leave grandma’s house? 😭 She babysit for us. It’s like I have to kidnap my own kid. At least until we get to the car. Then we’re good lol.

My toddler switches. Sometimes she cries & clings to her father when I pick her up. Sometimes she comes willingly / happily into my arms with hugs & kisses. How do I know what it means?

im curious on what this means if the child reacts differently to each parent. my daughter is happy, excited, and bouncing when she sees me but when she sees her dad she immediately turns toward me and leans into me.

my son runs and hugs me. he is indifferent when he sees my husband. doesn't immediately hug but usually will if asked to. sometimes doesn't want to do that. I'm worried my son isn't growing a secure attachment to his dad but I understand why. dad is unpredictable with his own emotions

My son goes “hello pretty face” everytime I walk in 🙂 he gets so excited and I think it’s because he is excited to bully me into crossing my legs and folding my eyes the same way they make him fold his legs and fold his arms at daycare 😂😂😂😂

My son has autism and when I go to collect him from daycare he can either run away, stand facing the wall and staring or fall to the ground. When we get home he needs half an hour but then comes and hugs me and then goes and plays…. But with Dad he’s happy to see him and hug him if he collects him. Am I doing something wrong?

I wonder if this is for nuero-typical children or for all. my children are excited to see me but I'm autistic and so are my kids. so is it still disorganized attachment bc of dissociation or meltdowns? or is there another study for different kinds of brains? I just wonder bc i don't want parents to blame or shame themselves when it may just be a nueri-divergent thing.

I agree with some of what this woman says but it's not that simple. I have a bachelors and masters in psychology. Stay at home with my son full time (no nursery). Extended breastfeeding and cosleeping. The rare and i mean rare times he is with another caregiver, some times he will do any number of these responses. the moral of the story is mums may be killing themselves and berating themselves over absolutes and thinking they have to do everything 100%. it's not true. do what you can and remember children only need good enough parenting, not perfect parenting. I respect this lady's opinion but she also completely and I mean completely disregards modern society and the need for mothers to look after their own mental health first. if a mother wants or indeed of course needs to go back to work and that is the best thing for the household then those are the brakes. the child can foster attachment at night or with other caregivers.
