@sourtsunami: What even is FEMINISM today? A short yap. I also want to acknowledge that others coming from diff cultures and diff upbringings might not believe this and that’s fine!! But please don’t confuse it as feminism!! #feminism #thoughts #5050 #fyp #girlboss
Great take. I don’t think these younger women realize that becoming COMPLETELY financially dependent on a man lends itself to a lot of abuse.

it’s like a weird misguided response to their anger at capitalism. they go and try to dump the burden of it on men and claim they deserve it. like?? 😭

Yes 50/50 is a good thing
Also young girls seeking "providers" is scary, like they can provide for themselves

it scares me how often I’m seeing women tell other women to settle for a man simply if they provide for them. it’s like people tried to go left they just ended up running in a circle right back to right wing ideology.

These comments are insane! It feels like Gen Z is losing the plot on feminism and it shows given how conservatively you all vote and how judgmental you’ve made your spaces - you’ll be lucky if you escape with the right to contraception intact

Dating discourse on this app is so conservative and patriarchal. Like they don’t even like each other. In reality, you have conversations in your partnership about finanical fairness and goals as a couple and as individuals

The biggest culture shock I experienced in the US is seeing people still expecting men to pay for dates especially first date. I thought I left a rather misogynistic country to a more progressive one but why does it feel like they are the same or my country is even more progressive now meanwhile the US is getting less and less for equality and more for benevolent sexism 😭

I feel like a lot of people are confused about this new wave of feminism. What we’re trying to say is that if a woman wants to have a man in her life, he should be able to provide the woman security so that she is able to pursue her passions, whether that’d be a career woman or a stay at home mom so that she’s not just working to live. It’s common to see that men will take up so much of a woman’s time and energy, so if the relationship doesn’t work out in the end, she’s not left with nothing. We want women to use their man as a resource to build her wealth and have something for herself so that she is empowered enough to leave a situation if she needs to.

my theory is that most women just know that the 50/50 is not really a 50/50 because men also want her to clean, cook and take care of herself. so it's more like 70/30. the truth is that the rise of conservatism in young men did that. the online backlash is just pointing out the hypocrisy that if they want her to do all the chores (become a housewife) he should pay (become a provider)

i think most people aren't feminists, but it's "trendy" to assume the label so they'll just slap the term feminism onto anything, without doing any critical thinking about the patriarchy and their place in it first

It seems to me that this is an overcorrection response to the "girl boss" era, like its suddenly no longer cool to be independent anymore

Wasn’t the 50/50 criticism discussed in relation to the existing inequalities (lower pay, domestic, emotional labour etc.), to move to more equitable relationships? Not to imply that one party should pay for everything, but I thought that those are significant discussions.

and in this economy?? i think most people are gonna have a hard time finding any man anywhere to pay for everything. everyone is broke including the men. its delusional to pretend like these rich men are falling from the sky waiting to pay for everything
