Never heard anyone pronounce it shomsa. I think it's worth adding that Sylhet is a huge region and the variation of accents and dialects differs a lot too. We call it a 'somosa'.

Shomsha only refers to the coconut pastry, Bengalis say somosa for samosa or we call it shingara but that refers to a specific type of samosa. Somosa is the Bengali way to say samosa.

So many people don't seem to realise that there's so many areas in Bangladesh and many different dialects and different ways of saying one word. This is the case a lot of different countries as well. When you meet people from different areas then you learn different ways so it's rather intriguing.

Bless you. My mum has dhaka accent which is different but similar, my dad from Chittagong/ chitragram - cant understand his dialect. Best food ever!! Xx
