South Africa isn’t likely to be sanctioned by the U.S. because: It’s a key trade partner and sits on vital global shipping routes. The U.S. and SA benefit from AGOA (duty-free trade). Sanctions could push SA closer to China and Russia (BRICS). SA supplies critical minerals needed worldwide. It’s influential in Africa, so sanctions would damage U.S.–Africa relations. Broad sanctions would hurt ordinary citizens, not just the government.
