Uh, maybe it's too late now, but it would have been lovely that you could attend Cañete fest. Cañete is a town with strong afroperuvian origin and the anniversary of its foundation is today... so these days there have been lots of dances and activities related to afro heritage :)

No estoy de acuerdo con lo de afro, todos los que nacimos aquí somos peruanos. En todo caso los afro peruanos fueron los primeros africanos nacionalizados peruanos. 🤷🏻♂️

Tbh as a Peruvian I love all the African influence we have in our culture. And of all the dances and music we have, the African-influenced rhythms are my favorites! Although the circumstances of how African people were brought to Peru were not something to be proud of, I’m extremely thankful that they shared part of their culture with Peru and we all became one country that celebrates freedom and happiness.
