This is a very debatable topic and I personally think it’s a mix of both, Christianity and religions were made to keep people in control and not having chaos, but view 2 you’re right in a way where they are somewhat controlling you. But at the same time that is the legit truth, we are humans who have synapses and we have memories and are a biological organic beings. Our brain works that way and science does prove it in many different ways, if politics aren’t involved and it is just based on biological and scientifically facts option 2 is correct. That is the factual truth we are sentient beings who have a brain and make our own decisions, we just can’t be manipulated and influenced by politics and social constructs.
