Nah, shareholders push for this kind of change knowing it’ll cause a market dip. They make the changes, and before they deploy it to the public they sell off shares. Public immediately hates it, stock plummets, same shareholders buy back the stock at a significant discount. CEO takes the fall since the shareholders no longer have majority stake. By next week they’ll backpedal by saying they’ve “listened to the consumer”, stock price goes back up, a bunch of rich people get richer while the public forgives and forgets.
