al-Fatā al-Samarqandī :
In Islam, some scholars rejected philosophy, while others embraced it. Great thinkers like Al-Kindī, Al-Fārābī, Ibn Sīnā (Avicenna), Ibn Rushd (Averroes), Al-Ghazālī, and Nasīr al-Dīn al-Tūsī studied and developed philosophy alongside theology, medicine, mathematics, and astronomy.
Philosophy brought many benefits, such as:
• using logic to defend and clarify faith,
• advancing science, medicine, and technology,
• translating and expanding on Greek works that later fueled the European Renaissance,
• major achievements in optics (Ibn al-Haytham), medicine (Ibn Sīnā), astronomy (al-Tūsī), and political theory (Al-Fārābī).
