grovesofoak :
It’s disingenuous to report the raw numbers when what is more meaningful is the percentage of that state’s population.

Not sure about your stats Nate, but I’m a Michiganander, and our population is up by more than 100k since 2020. In fact we reached a record high population of all time in 2024.

New York is more than NYC. There is a complete range of rent options in various upstate areas.

It's common sense that states with the largest population will have higher numbers. Percentage of population is a better indicator.

We’re definitely feeling the boom in population here in San Antonio, Texas. The Hill Country areas are particularly swarming with new developments. I get why they’re fleeing. But it’s tough for long time locals at times as well. Housing & land prices are insane now.

Rent is so high in CA now. It’s wild. I would be homeless if I didn’t own. In 2017 I rented a 3bd 2ba for $700. That same place is $2000 now.

Are you talking about upstate New York or Manhattan? Upstate New York is pretty reasonable still a different story.
