@dallasgadberry: I can’t believe I finally found it… Just enough footage captured this past weekend to showcase the only bird endemic to Florida. #floridascrubjay #birdsoftiktok #birdwatching #birds
Their habitat is being wiped out and the FWC doesn’t just not care, they’re facilitating it 😭

This and gopher tortoises are why I left my land all scrub and only cleared enough for my house. I have no yard because it's not my yard...it's theirs

And DeSantis wanted to turn a big chunk of a State Park where they live into a golf course. Because we NEED another golf course in Florida.

They bury acorns and basically plant trees… they are very special birds.. it’s a shame that their environments being wiped out from over development here in Florida. It’s happening to all sorts of native animals…

There have been efforts to replace the state bird (Mockingbird) with the Scrub Jay to raise awareness and protection, but surprise surprise, our gov and the developers that line their pockets don’t want that (Specifically NRA dipwad Marion Hammer)

This is why we need to protect our state parks and local preserves. My kids should experience what I have. We don’t inherit the land from our fathers, we borrow it from our children.

sad the ones at Lyonia Preserve are having issues with inbreeding because of the territory loss. Such cool curious birds.

IT IS IN DANGER! They live in scrub ecosystems predominately and there's only about 7% of the natural scrub left. Acres and acres of this rare land is being developed into housing communities. That same scrub supports Gopher Tortoises, which THEIR burrows support 365 other species. PROTECT WILD FLORIDA!
