Even the classes that people don't like/don't want to take in college- a class that they need to graduate... They still want the degree. They still chose to be there!

Thank you. Ive been told that elite HS is profoundly more engaging with PhD lvl instructors with the students often leading the instruction in a very unstructured class format. Can you confirm that HS is vastly different depending on affluence?

I agree and have thought that way for a very long time. Within disciplines the student should choose classes that fit for them

It’s a double edged sword. As someone who complained about classes I didn’t want to be in I see the benefit of the larger idea of “learning for the sake of learning”. It’s not necessarily about learning the subject but it’s the ability to apply learned skillsets in different ways. Critical thinking skills, troubleshooting and problem solving, time and project management. These things all are necessary to function in life outside of school. What has really happened is that we aren’t communicating the deeper skills that we are nurturing. Also - you are going to have to do things that you just aren’t interested in, in life. At least until we start seeing that we need to evolve societally that we should be in the pursuit

I just have questions about how you got hired with only a masters?! I’ve been looking and applying all over the place, but it looks like I’m going to have to go get my doctorate (which I plan to do, but was hoping to get my kids thru college first) 🤣😣
