@coltenbarnaby: I call myself an agnostic Pentecostal with Eastern Orthodox proclivities and an interest in Vedantic Christianity. It’s shaped by Pentecostal culture, the Oneness tradition, and even my family’s exile from those churches. It’s also about wrestling with faith, doubt, mysticism, theology, church history, theosis, and the non dualism of Advaita Vedanta. #exvangelical #Deconstruction #christiantiktok #pentecostal #orthodoxchristian

im a recent reconvert to christianity, eastern orthodoxy is very appealing to me on nearly every level from theology, to the emphasis on the ineffability of god, to the mystical practice, to the emphasis on theiosis, and the emphasis that God became man so that we may one day become God. But it would probably be tough for me given the fact that im trans... :/

As someone who values the mysthicism of Catholicism, the social justice of Episcopalianism, and the community approach of my Presbyterian upbringing, thank you for your clarity. God is everywhere, heaven is here, we have a lot to still discover.

This is great! Not sure if you’ve addressed this elsewhere but how do you reconcile your spiritual experiences (speaking in tongues, casting out of demons etc), things you would usually see/experience o Pentecostal worship services with agnosticism? What would you attribute those experiences to? Asking as a fellow apostolic who’s been more agnostic/open as of late.

Orthodox theology is still my favorite theology even though I don’t believe it. Except a progressive version if that makes sense.

i grew up in pentecostalism as well, and thru the good and bad, it shaped my approach to spirituality and my experience w/ the divine. you may have talked about it before, but i’d love to hear more about the early history of pentecostalism

thanks for answering, may recommend you a book? I come from a different tradition, and I think there are some things you may like , we are often disregarded as non christians, but I as a theologian (I studied in a Catholic university even though I'm not Catholic ) I think our perspective may enrich your vision. The book is called the God who weeps by Terryl givens

We’re on the same path my guy. Grew up COGIC, currently some sort of agnostic, mystic Quaker, and also deeply enamored with Eastern Orthodoxy.

I like Omnism maybe? I learn towards certain beliefs but I just take what resonates. If god exists I already know them. I just have to find them within me. I don’t claim to know truth but I seek it everywhere. I hold what “truth” feels right to me.

I think agnosticism is the only way to actually have faith. If you know the transcendental actually exists, you don't have faith anymore, you have certainty.

Hi Colton, glad I came across your page. I also grew up oneness. Have you wrestled at all with the racist history of white pentacostalism? It is my belief that our "culture" is a stolen one.
