everything you said! i literally dropped out of my art program because everyone there was competeing with each other and being so passive aggressive. everyone has some sort of performative quirk and hate you if you dont fall in line with them. now im going back to biology to be a vet and be an artist on the side cause the art industry sounds like hell

Absolutely. Art is not stable and asking those careers to support you like a normal 9-5 is crazy. It’s a DREAM for a reason and when you get that job you’re still going to have to work 24/7. People think being a creative is a ticket to not working. It’s not it’s a ticket to the existential dread of having no idea where your next dollar is coming from. If you can live with that then keep going.

My film professor told us this in our first class, he had $5 and a dream. He moved to the States to make it big as an actor only to find himself working small commercial jobs that paid pennies. He found his success but he said it wasn't worth it, get a stable job and do what you love on the side was his advice.

Very true. Always wanted to be an interior designer, but being independently wealthy is really a prerequisite. Which duh, the whole job was originated by wealthy people decorating their friends' homes

I feel like creative fields are those kinds of things you can either immediately make it work or it just doesn’t happen (not talking about the talent). Like… at some point you do have to get a real job or at least figure something else out. It sucks but it’s true. Jobs that support the elite will be elitist and classist. That’s life.
