An elder in my community would always tell a story of her picking berries with her Kookum as a little girl. She would only eat them while her Kookum picked. One day she was eating and seen a shadow next to her and thought it was her Kookum and continued eating. It ended up being a black bear just sitting next to her without a care and ate with her.

My Grandma told me a story of her out berry picking with her mother and sister and she said that her mother told them “stop eating all the berries!” And she asked “how did uou know we were eating them?” And her mother said her face was covered with berries and she only had like 6 in her basket even though her mothers basket was nearly full😂
