@moneyquest_penrith: Replying to @Laurence Refalo $1200 a week = a $900k loan 😳 Not where most first home buyers start. Don’t let the headlines scare you #firsthomebuyer #homebuyingtips #propertyaustralia #mortgagetips #penrith

Median 2 bedroom unit price in Brisbane now north of $700K. Getting tougher to get started for many

people want the mansion, big homes over priced in the "better" suburbs. start with an apartment, a unit, go out further or a town. there's great affordable places all over our country

We have a deposit but all the houses are 750k+ and the original owners just paint over water damage and other issues and think we can’t see it.

It’s tough! We got what we could afford at the time, we’ve outgrown it but made do. Do I wish we had more space? Of course! But is it worth the quality of life I’d have to give up to have it RIGHT NOW? No!

I agree! My husband and I used the 5% and only purchased for 640k so we can manage the repayments without it being too much! ☺️wish we could have been able to get a house but at least we’ve made the first step!

Try finding a decent house to purchase under $750k in any metropolitan area.

Couples should be able to afford that. If people aren’t getting that a week you need to upgrade your skills

I am on a single income and I bought a one bedroom apartment in Kingswood for $340k in 2019, I was on $73k at the time. I’m still in the apartment and it has been fine but I’d love to upgrade

The problem I think with buyers advocates and agents typically use language where it’s like “oh, you can get a 800k place with just a 40k deposit” but it doesn’t apply to the middle class a lot of the time. It’s just sad that even the media shows 700k loan sizes to make the 0.25% loan reduction mean more when again low-middle income households don’t have those mortgages. More or less, a lot do talk cavalier about repayments like 1200 fortnightly like it’s nothing but if only one person works good luck 😂

I live in the Penrith area also. And you would know a average 3 bedroom house here is 1 mil plus.. to get something cheaper you would need to pack up and move far away.
