as an only child, i never thought it was selfish.. however as i’ve gotten older & realized that my kids don’t have any uncles/aunts or cousins on my side that makes me sad. It also saddens me that when my parents pass it’ll just be me, i can’t share that burden with any sibling. I’m currently pregnant with my second & this pregnancy has been hard mentally because i think of it no longer being my son & i .. however i am so excited that he’ll be able to have the bond of a sibling.

I have a 8 year age gap between my new daughter and my son and we love it!! He loves his baby sis and it’s easier for me because he’s more independent & doesn’t feel like he’s fighting for attention if anything he loves to help me with her 💗😭

There’s many reasons why a mom would decide to have just one kid, I don’t think is selfish, some people bring kids into this world and can’t take care of them. I have two boys, for me, the moment I decided to have the second one was one day at the park, when my oldest was 13months, some bigger kids told him “you can’t play with us you are a baby” and that was it for me, that same night I got pregnant with his forever playmate 🥹

why do people think their kid needs a sibling? thats so weird to me. focus on your one child, give them the world, and embrace the one. you dont need more than one for your child to be happy or have a "good experience".

I don’t think it’s inherently selfish but I think you have to play out every scenario before you decide and see if you can live with that decision with no regrets. Think about when they are older and how it’ll also affect their kids. No cousins, no big family events, if you die, your child is left with all that responsibility etc.

Im one of 5 and my siblings are the best gift my parents ever could have given me. My sister in law is an only child and she’s expressed how she wishes she grew up with siblings.

I have gone back n forth. I’m an only child. At times it was lonely growing up but as an adult I feel like there’s never a guarantee you’ll be close with your siblings. I just feel like I’ll be a better parent to just 1.

i feel guilty for not wanting to do this again.. pregnancy has been so hard. i have spent more time wishing it was over than appreciating the beauty of this. i don’t know how i will feel when the baby comes, but i don’t want the guilt i feel now.

I think two is just right. Siblings are the closest friends. I have one brother whom I don’t speak to, and lost both parents by 13 years old. I long for another familial connection. My babies (1&2) already are great playmates. It is not easy but it’s for THEM.

Hmm 🤔 .. I was the same way he has siblings from his dads other child’s mom . But me and her do not speak unfortunately… im currently pregnant with my second one and am so excited he will have a sibling to grow up with now and see every day
