Back in August, we completed one of the most incredible adventures we've ever had. The Alta Via 1 is a breathtaking multiday hut-to-hut trek spanning 75 miles that takes you through some of the Dolomites' most gorgeous landscapes. You'll pass by towering mountains, vibrant alpine meadows, and even some WW1 ruins. Each day truly brings you something new. Here are some of our most-asked questions: ✨ How much did it cost? - 2 nights Venice + Rifugios + 2 nights countryside: $1,437.87 pp - Lunches, snacks & drinks at rifugios: about $200–$300 pp - Flights & gear: about $1,000 pp (can be much less if you borrow, shop used, or find deals) 🥾Did you regret packing/not packing anything? Regretted bringing: - Water bottle with filter: didn’t use it, but nice for peace of mind. - Shampoo/conditioner bars: messy; travel bottles would’ve been easier. Wished I’d brought: - Tissues: essential for cold, rainy, high-altitude days. - Weatherproof gloves: hands got freezing several times. 📝 How did you book the rifugios? We opted for booking for everything ourselves instead of through a travel company. It’s a bit trickier this way, but we saved a ton of money. We’ve created a guide with lots of tips on booking rifugios, transport to and from the trail, our exact itinerary, and much more. And it’s completely free!
