I spent 12 days in Italy last year on my Euro holiday, I ate pasta 17 times, and Pizza atleast 5 times. The absolute best food on earth is in Italy.

As a Sicilian I find it so funny because we actually don’t eat most of these food at home. Like we have proper cooked traditional food. It’s kind of sad really that it’s more touristy because then that’s what people think we eat but there’s so much more to our culture

I live in Italy, Friuli Venezia Giulia. I have never liked italian food, but when you find those small restaurants in the small towns that cook real genuine Italian, with fresh Italian ingredients... 👌 chefs kiss! They also have plenty of meat (not much lamb unfortunately) so probably just needed to look harder 😂 People saying Italian food is bland, didn't eat at the right places, or get to experience a nonna's cooking. They use the best ingredients straight out of their gardens, make their own sauces, and they don't over do it with the flavours. Every time my mother inlaw cooks for us, she explains why they do things the way they do. Or some dishes they have, came to existence during the war when they had very little. I gained a new respect for Italian cuisine and understand it more. Not that much different to growing up in a big tongan family and eating topai or keke vai 🤷🏻♀️
