As someone who works at a Petsmart those employees are aweful because they were straight up neglecting those betas. We clean ours almost everyday and they get fed once a week I hate they’re in cups but ig it has too. It’s also always so sweet when some customers pick the ones that pick out the beta that’s been there longest

Perspective of someone who works at a pet store: i know we all arent the same but at my store we try our best to take care of them. But unfortunately we dont have the knowledge or understanding. We are only taught to change their water and feed them. Occasionally when we are sure a fish isnt doing well we will place them in a small tank and let them go peacefully.

I got 75% off a Pink Orchid male betta from Petco bc he has swim bladder issues and was floating on his side in the cup. I’m really hoping I’m able to rehab him. He’s already doing better and able to swim to the bottom of his tank and stay there
