tibetinhistory :
Before the Chinese invasion, Tibet was an independent country with its own government, army, flag, postal system, language, culture, and customs, none of which were the same as China’s. All cities, towns, villages, and landmarks were named in Tibetan and inhabited by Tibetans.
If China is so confident about the development in Tibet and believes that Tibetans are truly happy, then it should open up Tibet. Let international tourists and media visit and report freely from the region. Allow Tibetans inside Tibet to travel abroad freely, without needing special permits or living in fear of repercussions.
Over 1.2 million Tibetans died as a result of China’s invasion, and more than 6,000 monasteries and temples were destroyed—not to mention the widespread destruction during the Cultural Revolution. For the first time in Tibetan history, famine occurred under Chinese occupation.
China must realize that facts cannot be changed, and loyalty, assimilation, or integration cannot be achieved through force, lies, or oppression. Tibetans and people in the free world know the truth, and no amount of propaganda can alter that truth or the facts.
